Radley Cricket Festival 16-18 July 2010

The keenly anticipated Festival was an enormous success.  The detailed, military planning which Malcolm Watson had put in over the previous 12 months paid off with all aspects of the weekend proceeding without a hitch.  Congratulations and thanks to Malcolm for all of this.  He was greatly assisted by Dougie Dalrymple.  The Club's thanks go to Angus McPhail, Warden of Radley College, and through him to all the Radley groundstaff, caterers and others who made the Club's Festival such a success.

All this planning and adminstration can take place and a cricket festival still fail if the weather and/or the cricket is disappointing.  Neither disappointed.  Three wonderful cricket matches took place, mostly in excellent weather with just one interruption for rain.  The success of the cricket is thanks to Andrew Lewis, cricket manager for the Festival.  Thanks and congratulations to him.  Thanks also to Umpires Mark Williams, Donald Macleod and Christopher Dean and Scorer Kenneth Jeffery for their immaculate efforts.

The Headlines

MCC 207 all out, Cryptics 208 for 7 (Dom PIke 64, Andrew Lewis 40*)

Cryptics 285 for 6 (Simon Halliday 104), President’s XI 230 all out (Joe Ireland 5-)

Free Foresters 282 for 6, Cryptics 281 for 9 (Dom Pike 109, Andrew Lewis 56)

Match reports can be found in the section of the website called Match Results & Reports ro by clicking here http://www.crypticscc.org/match-results-and-reports.

In addtion to the cricket a superb buffet supper was enjoyed by members and guests in the magnificent Mansion House after the President's match on the Saturday.  President Tony Beadles and His Honour Simon Fawcus addressed the attendees gathered in wonderful evening sunshine on the steps.  The Club's AGM took place on Sunday 18th at 10am.  Andrew Lewis was formally elected to succeed Tony Beadles as President; other details to be provided to members in due course.

2010 Dinner at Lord's - Summary and Attendees

The Centenary Dinner was everything it was expected to be with good food and wine and great speeches.  The Long Room at Lord's was a fitting venue for this wonderful celebration.  MC David Fawcus and President Tony Beadles ensured it all ran smoothly.  Guest of honour, MCC President John Barclay spoke with great humour (and some controversy).  Glamorgan Captain and Cryptic, Jamie Dalrymple replied in fine style.
